08 – Why does the Device disconnect indication not work with all my devices and servers?

Answer

Device disconnect indication requires both hardware (RS232) control signal support, and the right serial cabling to work. If either of these is missing, device disconnect indication cannot correctly track the loss of connection to a serial device. Most, but not all, servers and devices support these control signals.
