Four members of the board of the Data Center Institute – the research arm of the AFCOM data center user group – discussed the results of a survey conducted earlier this year of about 300 data center IT and facility professionals. In short, the survey indicated that businesses now think twice before cutting IT budgets, because extensive data center budget cuts could harm companies' overall productivity.

Avocent DSR doesn't let me access server BIOS
I have an Avocent DSR2035 and I am using the DSAVIQ-USB2 dongle to connect my servers to it. Everything works great, except that I can't access the BIOS of some of the servers. What can I do to fix this?
This is a known issue. Some servers will not detect the USB 2 keyboard until after the BIOS post, when the OS loads its drivers.
The work around for it is to set the speed of the dongle to USB 1.1. Just access the DSR as Admin and go to Appliance Settings > Ports > IQ Modules menu. Check the ports that are having this problem and click "Set USB 1.1 speed".
