Let's Talk About Cooling

Are your "side venting" network equipment creating airflow issues for you?

Issues such as:
* Hot and cold aisle containment being "corrupted"
* Over-heating in certain areas of your racks
* Hot air and cold air mixing too much, decreasing energy efficiency

There are a few different solutions you can use to redirect the side airflow to a front to rear airflow. Talk to one of our solution specialists at (877) 647-2728 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it about your specific equipment. Take a look at a few solutions we offer below:

APC NetShelter SX Side Air Flow Duct Kit
The Side Airflow Duct Kit directs cool air from the front of the enclosure into the intake of side airflow equipment such as networking switches. Air is directed by two, 2U ducts, mounted in the u-space of the enclosure directly above and below the equipment and a side baffle is used to maintain adequate separation of hot and cold aisles. Wright Line Airflow Manager for 1U Switches
The Airflow Manager is designed to be used on Cisco® Catalyst 4948 switches and other 1U models. This patent-pending device can be utilized in any enclosure that meets the EIA-310-D specification. The kit includes everything needed to mount the switch, control airflow and manage cabling. The assembly can be mounted to face either the hot or cold aisle and still direct the airflow properly. Missed the DataCenter Dynamics Conference in SF? We've Got The Highlights

The following are highlights from the DataCenter Dynamics Conference & Expo in San Francisco on July 16, 2010:

  • Power and cooling continues to be the main concerns for data center operators and owners. Many different vendors presented solutions on containment, heat exhaust options (passive or active), alternative energy power solutions and chilled water systems.
  • Many discussions were held on the best ways to measure data center efficiency - How to get the metrics, what do they mean, and whether a low PUE really translates to low energy bills.
  • eBay did the industry's first Wi-Fi deployment of 1500 intelligent power strips.
  • Airflow management impact on energy efficiency and the role of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) modeling.
  • Discussions of the impact of Title 24 (CA Building Efficiency Code) on new data centers being built in CA and overview of Title 24 proposed measures such as containment, economizers, variable speed fans, lighting and electrical requirements.
  • What does it mean to be an "Energy Star Rated Data Center"?
  • ENERGY STAR Benchmarking Starter Kit
